NZ Flax Harakeke (Phormium tenax) Phormium tenax is emdemic to New Zealand, it  is a large common flax growing to 2m hight and wide and forms robust clumps of broad, green leaves and the nectar in the flowers is  attractive to bees and birds These plants a very tolerant of a wide range of sites, including swamp and coastal and for erosion control.
